I'm a street photographer by weekends, and I've been taking candid pictures of strangers in Orchard Road since mid 2008 (about the same time I moved from the Philippines to Singapore). My aim is to create an overall portrait of the beauty and energy of Orchard Road through the different characters and scenarios found in this busy street.
Why do I shoot street?
In the street, nothing is prepared. Nothing cooperates with you.. not the weather, not the subjects, not the situation. You have to make do with what’s available. That’s a very big challenge. But on few occasions when all the elements just come together, and you’re at the right place at the right time, the feeling of ‘getting that shot’ just doesn’t compare to anything else.
Who are my heroes in street photography?
To name a few: Philip-Lorca DiCorcia, Garry Winogrand, Trent Parke, Martin Parr, William Klein, Fan Ho, and Daido Moriyama.
Aside from photography, what else do I do?
On weekdays, I design website applications for the Information Services department of a global audio equipment manufacturing company based in Singapore. I've been working in the web & graphic design profession for 10 years. I'm currently working on my new design portfolio site, so please watch out for that :)
